Frequently Asked Questions

Breathwork Basics

    • a safe and effective somatic practice

    • a superhighway to your emotions

    • the all-natural healing method you were born with

Breathwork is an ancient practice of using your breath to tap into connected states of consciousness, body awareness, regulate your nervous system, shift energy, and flush toxins. There are many different breathwork methods, some very old, some newer, some fast, some slow, but all with the shared intention to help shepherd you from one state to another.

  • In many ways, your breath is a reflection of your life, and vice versa— If your breath is inverted, dysfunctional, shallow, or blocked, then you yourself are likely blocked up (emotionally, spiritually, physically). If your breath is open, clear, and flowing, then you are likely to feel free and flowing in life. As within, so without.

We learn to breathe from the moment we exit the womb and enter this world, and it is our first and last sign of life. Life is breath, breath is life. Spiritualities as old as time have known this (Hinduism & Yogic Traditions, Taoism, Buddhism, Indigenous & Shamanic Traditions, Sufism, Christianity & Hebrew Mysticism, Ancient Egyptian & African Traditions).

How we breathe is a key indicator of our vitality, our truth. I can tell much about a person just by observing their breath…

    What is your breath saying?

    • Improves oxygen flow, boosting energy and vitality

    • Supports detoxification, lymphatic drainage, and immune function

    • Enhances blood circulation and digestion

    • Releases physical tension and relaxes overworked muscles

    • Reduces stress, anxiety, and insomnia while building emotional resilience

    • Regulation of the nervous system

    • Helps integrate unresolved trauma, without needing to overanalyze

    • Awakens higher levels of awareness, intuition, and presence

    • Movement of stagnant energy and revitalization of the body’s life force (Qi/prana)

    • Embodied wisdom and spiritual (heart-led) clarity

Your breath is not just a function —
It’s a bridge back to yourself.

  • Breathwork is much more physically activating than meditation and much more emotionally activating than yoga. Where meditation aims to bring stillness to the mind, Breathwork is all about opening the Breath enough to reveal, release, and integrate what lives beneath the mind, in the body. Stillness is not the goal! Presence, however, is a shared quality among all these modalities.

  • While you do breathe involuntarily your whole life, breathwork is about breathing intentionally, usually in a specific rhythm or pace. The breath is an incredible resource at our disposal in every moment to help us ground, revitalize, change states.

Breathwork also has the word work in it for a reason. It is a challenge to stay with your breath, regardless of what it mirrors back to you.

We can reach profound states while breathing, accessing what’s deep in the spirit body where we rarely are even aware of what’s going on. To have a guide on this journey of internal discovery— someone who is experienced in the realms of altered states, trauma-informed, and in alignment with your light and essence— is a game changer for the ride and the integration. There is much to navigate within the Breath, and you don’t need to go it alone!

  • While Breathwork is extremely healthy as it flushes your body of toxins and emotional build up, that’s not to say there is never discomfort or pain that can arise when the body is activated, or that it is safe for everyone. Please tell me before our session if you are pregnant or have any heart, pulmonary, physical or mental health conditions. In these cases, breathwork may not be suitable or I may refer you to a more experienced Breathworker.

  • The range is wide, but my goal is to leave you feeling grounded, integrated, and resourced at the end of each session. There’s no telling exactly what will come up for each person, and each session is certainly different (just as you are different every day!), but the Breath often expresses trapped emotions in the body in the form of sensations, colors, visions, words, song, memories, visitations from loved ones/spirits, cry, laugh, toning, cough, movement, and sometimes sleep. We go places when we Breathe, but we always come back, a little more in the know.

  • Nope! I meet you where you’re at, whether that’s totally new to Breathwork, somewhat experienced, or deep in the path. You don’t have to know anything going in, just that you want to show up for yourself.

  • If you’re interested in virtual sessions, but wondering how that works, know that virtual sessions can easily be just as powerful as in-person sessions. In fact, a majority of my clients are virtual and experience profound healings through our work together. As long as you have a stable internet connection, we can create the intimate container needed to make you feel comfortable.

  • I am trained in Conscious Connected Breathing, which is a bit of an umbrella term, as there are many ways to do CCB. All of which utilize the circular breath. My Breathwork mentors stem from various schools (such as Transformational & Rebirthing), making my style quite hybridized. I take “the best of” from multiple modalities and use my own intuition to form my unique approach to the Breath. It’s my belief that the best Breathwork is personalized, therefore I draw upon many tools and resources to tailor our sessions to your needs.

  • Breathwork can be deeply supportive for people with asthma, but it depends. Many people with asthma find that gentle, conscious breathing practices help them:

    • become more aware of their breath patterns

    • reduce anxiety around breathing

    • and even experience fewer symptoms over time

That said, not all techniques are suitable. If you have asthma, please let me know. If you’re unsure or have severe asthma, I recommend checking in with your doctor before starting Breathwork.

Nervous System & Somatics

  • Breathwork is a wonderful resilience builderbecause it gives you safe opportunities to practice moving through big emotions in real time, teaching you how to self-regulate by finding your balance and breath when you’re in an activated state.

During Breathwork, we’re often blowing off an excessive amount of CO2, mimicking hyperventilation— only we pair it with intention and safety (which really makes all the difference). When we learn to recognize the energy of activation in our bodies as simply energy moving through us, we can build the skills needed to see our way through the activations more effectively.

  • When was the last time you stopped to find your breath— where it is, where it isn’t?
When was the last time you gave your body an hour of pure presence to feel whatever it needed to feel, move however it wants? Breathwork is beautifully somatic in the sense that it’s not about finding the right words to describe your experience (working with the mind). It’s distinctly a body process, like dancing, running, playing or swimming. No words are necessary, but they’re nice to have.

  • Well then that’s probably a sign that you’re in the right place! This is often a sign of not feeling truly safe in your body. We use all kinds of clever techniques to avoid being vulnerable with ourselves and others, usually unconsciously and by learned association. This is not a bad thing! We can work with this learned behavior and give your body the time and spaciousness it needs to feel safe enough to drop in when its ready. The body is the master!

Session Details / What to Expect

  • We'll spend some time in the beginning to discuss where you're at and what your intention is. I'll go over the breathing technique and then guide you through a ~45-60 minute Breathwork Journey (usually 30-40 minutes of active breath, followed by about 15 minutes of gentle grounding). Then we discuss your experience and integration needs. Sometimes we begin with movement, shaking, or dancing to get the blood flowing and activate the breath.

  • Please prepare anything to make yourself more comfortable. For virtual sessions, you just need a comfy spot to lie down. It’s nice to have a pillow, blanket, water, journal & pen, plus any symbolic or comforting extras (candle, sage, stuffed animal, etc.).

  • The Breathwork is done lying down, but if you’re uncomfortable or unable, we can modify and adjust to your needs. Camera must be on for online sessions so that I can see your breath and assess your needs.

  • Generally 1.5 - 2 hours, and ocassionally we run over depending on how much talking there is. Our first session together is usually 2-3 hours, leaving room for a proper intake, introduction to the Breath, and a full journey.

  • I currently have three main offerings:

The Rootwork Session: This is a single 2.5-3 hour deep-dive foundational session where we get to know your unique breath, set clear intentions, and experience a full guided Breath Journey. This is always our first step in working together.

Tending Sessions: These are ‘book-when-you-need’ drop-in sessions for those who have already done a Rootwork Session or Full Bloom. These can be booked once a month, once a season, or whenever you feel called to reconnect with your Breath.

Full Bloom: Therapeutic Breath Immersion:This is an intimate and transformative 12-week container where we meet weekly for guided Breath sessions to rewire your nervous system, reconnect to your aliveness, and build a sense of self-trust, regulation skills, and unshakeable self-love.

*If you’re not ready for any of these 1:1 options, join us for the next free New Moon Community Breathing Circle! Step your toe into the magic of Breath without any commitments or cost :)

  • Both are an option! If you live in or near Dublin, Ireland, in-person is highly recommended. And if you don’t live nearby, don’t worry!— virtual sessions are incredibly powerful as well and offer a spaciousness and accessibility that is preferable to some clients.

Emotional Support

  • That is a great sign. It means you’ve allowed yourself to feel something that was always there, underneath it all. Breathwork brings up a lot of “stuff”— things we have been stuffing down, shutting out, or turning a blind inward eye to. Trauma is stored in the body and the Breath, so when we finally open the Breath, what usually follows is a cascade of emotion, formerly bottled up tight, now flowing like a river. This is part of the healing process. And not just grief, but anger, frustration, confusion, even blissed out childlike playfulness and orgasmic relief! These all may show up. Your job is only to allow it to be felt.

  • Absolutely. I have no expectations of you to show up in any kind of way, and definitely do not want you to perform for me, or you. There is no pressure on you to feel something or transform in some grand way. This is your journey. I’m simply here to hold you and the space, whatever experience you may be having.

  • Yes. I believe talking through the experience and being listened to are important parts of the integration process. But sometimes there are no words, or they come later, and that’s perfectly okay too.

More, More, Ever More…

  • I’ve always been a natural healer from a young age and endlessly fascinated by human’s ability to feel and transform. Growing up, I always wanted to be a therapist, but I never saw myself in the typical path of the mental health system. Then I found Breathwork and somatic healing in 2023 and everything changed for me. I just felt like this was the missing piece in my own healing and others needed to know about it. I no longer believe in healing that doesn’t include the body. I feel at home in the Breathwork community. This feels like the best use of my gifts and I’m thankful I found it when I did and can share it with the world in my own unique way.

  • I incorporate all my tools, knowledge, and intuition I’ve gathered over the years to hone my own style of holding people and spaces. I draw from my education in psychology, literature and art, IFS, trauma-informed breathwork training courses, multicultural influences, archetypes, and of course, my very own colorful lived experience.

  • All kinds! Only requirements are that you must be respectful and open to the process.
